Storyteller J’miah Nabawi presents

A Riddle for Freedom: The Essential Bruh Rabbit

Presenting historical notes on the coded Bruh Rabbit tales that were unknown to Joel Chandler's Uncle Remus cycles and were actually denunciations of the slave system in the United States. As told by a former enslaved African descendant, Simon Brown, Brer Tiger and the Big Wind (Bruh Rabbit's Big Wind) is such a folktale. Storyteller J'miah Nabawi will present the story and the riddle as documented by the late Reverend William J. Faulkner and published in his book, The Days When the Animals Talked

With background information given, the folktale will be arranged for audience participation that will include a core group to deliver the singing parts (as the choral ensemble) of the story. Storyteller J'miah Nabawi first presented A Riddle for Freedom (The Essential Bruh Rabbit) with funded-support under the auspices of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) through the Georgia Council for the Arts (GCA) in 2006. Those interested in taking part in the production and recording of this presentation at a later date are welcomed to inquire.
